typefunction focus on typography, functionality and simplicity to create good design. We do work for everyone, from large companies to individuals, and take on all projects for print and screen.
We are based in South London, but can work nationally or internationally if needed. We can work in our own office, or invade yours.
The projects we work on are varied. Having most experience in book design, books form the bulk of our work. With books usually come advertising design, which often leads to designing for the web either as online ads or an entire website. We have experience in all these areas, so can provide a complete package if needed.
Small businesses can benefit from our skills as well. We love to see well presented businesses, with stationary, websites, catalogues, and cards all united by good typography and design. We get to the heart of what the business does and present that in a pleasing way.
Currently we are a one man band consisting of Colin Hall. Typefunction was founded by Colin Hall in 2009. Graduating in 2005 from The University of Reading with a BA/MDes in Typography and Graphic Communication, Colin worked for HarperCollinsPublishers for three years as a book designer. Confident in his abilities with typography and design, he set up typefunction. In addition to this, Colin is also Design Partner at Refined Practice.
Colin is keen on outdoor sports such as mountain biking, surfing and rock climbing. Music is another passion, shown in his collection of instruments and involvement in bands.
